The problem with eating junk food regularly is that although it gives you a feeling of fulfilment, it doesn’t provide sufficient nutrition to your body. In fact, the ingredients of junk food can deplete precious resources from your body because your body is consuming excess sugar, salt and fat. Regular consumption of junk food can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, obesity, and some types of cancer. Junk food may also make you feel tired, depressed, and drowsy all the time. Tests can be done to find out the adverse side effects of consuming too much junk food. These tests include complete hemogram test, HbA1c test, lipid profile test and a basic preventive test package.
Junk food may include potato chips, burgers that you eat from fast food restaurants, excessively salty and fatty food, and aerated and sweetened beverages. In moderation these foods and beverages don’t pose serious health problems but if they are consumed routinely – twice or thrice a week – they can pose serious health problems.
Since junk food directly is not an illness, there is no well-defined test for junk food, but you can certainly have a series of tests to know the ill effects of eating junk foods.
Regular consumption of junk foods can give you the following health problems:
Why do junk foods cause health problems?
When you visit a restaurant and order a junk food, it is delivered to you within 15-20 minutes. Just look around how many people are there. Sometimes there are scores of people waiting for their orders. How do they prepare the food so fast? They use maximum amount of oil and other fats. They use maximum amounts of sugar. They use maximum amount of salt and sodium. The formula for cold drinks brims with sugar and other unhealthy substances. Most of the gold rings and fast foods are loaded with carbohydrates with little or no fibers. When your digestive system breaks down these junk food items, the carbohydrates are released as glucose into your bloodstream. Therefore after having junk food you get this sudden surge of energy, which is artificial energy. This sudden spike of sugar confuses your insulin which is supposed to convert sugar into energy, and it becomes resistance to responding to glucose in your body, leading to type II diabetes. A junk food test may also include a diabetes test.
Since when you are consuming junk foods your body is being deprived of nutritional foods, aside from developing heart problem and diabetes, you may also develop many deficiencies and these deficiencies in turn cause other problems. Hence, to know the ill effects of regular consumption of junk food, you may need to get a series of tests done including blood glucose fasting test, liver function text, lipid profile test, complete hemogram test and HbA1c test. You may also go through a complete preventive package test to get a series of tests done to know the damage caused by junk food consumption.
